HALI 229

This week on hali.com: HALI remembers Şeref Özen, the well-known Istanbul dealer, connoisseur and former HALI representative, who has died. Renowned for his knowledge of Turkish and Central Asian textiles and rugs, Özen leaves behind a lasting legacy in the world of carpets and textiles.

We’re pleased to announce that our latest issue, HALI 229, was published this week. This issue features a comprehensive guide to the Bayeux Tapestry, the embroidery currently on show in an immensely popular British Museum exhibition. We look forward to sharing its latest stories, discoveries and insights with our readers.

On 27 September, sixty members of the Hajji Baba Club gathered at Nazmiyal in New York for The Thrill of the Hunt: Collectors in Conversation, a roundtable exploring the passions, experiences and perspectives that shape the world of collecting.

Meanwhile, in a new article, Serra Oruç reflected on Mike Berg’s 25-year engagement with Anatolian craft and his exhibition Innocent of Theory, which invites us to look beyond the kilim’s traditional function and consider it as a work of art, a vessel of memory and a repository of cultural heritage.

Looking ahead, the coming weeks promise a busy season for the art and design world, with PAD London, Frieze Masters and Asian Art in London all taking place. Keep an eye on our social media channels for live coverage, highlights and insights from these major events.
