It is with great sadness that we have learned of the untimely death of the much-loved Istanbul textile dealer Şeref Özen.
A highly respected connoisseur and market maker, he specialised in Turkish and Central Asian textiles and rugs, and much else besides. For a number of years two decades ago he was also HALI's Istanbul representative.
He will be remembered as a source of wonderful textile art, as a true friend, generous and uncomplicated, to many in the international collecting community, and as an ever helpful and knowledgeable colleague to his peers, both in Turkey and around the world. A gentle soul, his warmth and kindness will be greatly missed.
