Terms & conditions
The terms on which we publish HALI, run this website, and sell subscriptions and goods.
1. About these terms
These terms apply to your use of hali.com and to anything you buy from us — print and digital subscriptions, single issues, books and other goods. The site is operated by HALI Publications Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. By using the site or placing an order, you agree to these terms.
2. Using the site
You may read the public parts of the site for personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, redistribute, scrape, frame or republish content, in whole or in part, without our written permission. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site at any time.
3. Your account
Some features require an account. You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for activity on your account. If you think your account has been used without your permission, tell us straight away. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms or are used to access content fraudulently.
4. Subscriptions
A HALI subscription gives you the printed quarterly for the term you choose, the weekly editorial dispatch, and access to the digital archive. Subscriptions begin with the next issue unless we agree otherwise, and they renew automatically at the end of the term unless you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account; cancellation stops future renewals and ends digital archive access at the end of the paid term. We do not refund the unused portion of a current term except where required by law.
5. Shop orders
Prices and availability shown on the site can change without notice. Your order is an offer to buy; a contract is formed when we send a dispatch confirmation. We ship worldwide; delivery times are estimates. Risk passes to you on delivery. If a book or back issue arrives damaged or faulty, contact us within fourteen days and we will replace or refund it. UK and EU consumers have the statutory right to cancel an order for physical goods within fourteen days of delivery; this does not apply to digital content once access has been granted.
6. Intellectual property
All editorial content, photography, illustration, design and code on this site belongs to HALI Publications Ltd or to the contributors and rights-holders we license from. Permission to reproduce any of it must be requested in writing. The HALI name and masthead are trademarks of HALI Publications Ltd.
7. Submissions and correspondence
Article pitches, letters to the editor and other material you send us may be edited and published in print or online. By submitting, you confirm the work is yours, you have the right to send it, and you grant us a non-exclusive licence to publish it in connection with the magazine.
8. Liability
We take reasonable care over editorial accuracy but the site is provided on an “as is” basis. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud or for anything that cannot lawfully be excluded — including, for consumers, statutory rights. Otherwise, our liability for any single matter is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before it arose.
9. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page is the current one and applies from the date shown below. If a change materially affects subscribers, we will give reasonable notice by email.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except that consumers may bring proceedings in their country of residence.
