Diagrams are also featured to explain the embroidery stitches.
About the Author
Robert Chenciner was a scholar and researcher specialising in the cultures, traditions and material heritage of Daghestan and the wider Caucasus. A Senior Associate Member of St Antony's College, University of Oxford, and an Honorary Member of the Daghestan branch of the Academy of Sciences of Russia, he devoted much of his work to the study of Caucasian history, ethnography and traditional arts. His 1993 publication Kaitag: Textile Art from Daghestan was a landmark and pioneering study of this distinctive textile tradition.
