This weekend, 24 – 26 October 2014, the annual Volkmann-Treffen 2014 will take place in Berlin.
The topic of this year’s meeting is tents, inspired by the Türckische Cammer – a 17th century Ottoman tent that has been on display in the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden since 2010. The installation offers a unique opportunity to appreciate the richly decorated interior of the 20 metre long, three-pole construction.

The meeting opens at the Islamic art Museum (Museum für Islamiche Kunst), with a presentation entitled 'Palaces from the Loom – Ottoman Luxury Tents and their Interior Decorations' by Dr. Hedda Reindl-Kiel. A full programme of lectures continues over the whole weekend in the Lecture Theatre of the Kunstgewerbemuseums.
