On hali.com this week, two leading experts joined us to look at SOAS Gallery's exhibition of Afghan textiles from the Karun Thakar collection, and in Editor's Choice we turned to the art and culture of Uzbekistan, on show at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, with more coverage of this exhibition still to come.
Much of the team is currently occupied with preparations for COVER Connect New York, our sister publication's big annual event, running from 26–28 September. The editorial team also have articles in progress for HALI 229 on a collection of Kerman carpets from the Qajar period, and on textile highlights from the newly opened Centre for Islamic Civilisation in Tashkent.
Next week, hali.com readers can look forward to a preview of the first part of the Mallams Oxford sale of carpets and textiles from the Christopher Legge collection (9 September), our first look at the Bayeux Tapestry exhibition opening at the British Museum on 10 September, and a look at an exhibition of Okinawan textiles in Japan, among other things.
