The China department of Museum Rietberg, Zurich has reopened after a six-month rebuilding programme. The Museum presents more than 600 ceramics and other objects from the world famous Meiytang Collection and is now one of the leading homes of Chinese art in the world. Amassed in the 1960s by the Swiss collector Gilbert Zuellig, the systematic collection of Chinese art dates from 5th millennium BC through to the Qing dynasty of the 18th century. Displayed artefacts include eggshell-thin stem cups from the Neolithic period, colour-glazed horses and magnificent vessels from the Tang dynasty as well as exquisite, delicately glazed bowls from the Song dynasty.
