Detail from Lot 62

Austria Auction Company will be holding an online sale of rugs and kilims on 18 April, a first for the auction house.

Intended to complement the regular catalogue auctions, the online sale offers greater access and follows the trend of digital ventures sweeping across the commercial art world. In contrast to internet-only sales, there will be a preview as well as a physical auction, to include buyers that prefer to bid in person rather than online.

Highlights from the auction include a west Anatolian village rug, a Ferahan Zilli Sultan rug and a Heriz silk rug from c. 1880.

Austria Auction Company, 18 April at 5pm
Viewings: 17 April 10am-6pm and 18 April 10am-5pm
The viewings and physical auction will take place at Industriestrasse B 16, 2345 Brunn am Gebirge, Austria

Austria Auction Company’s fourth catalogue sale will take place on 9 May and will feature pieces from the Kurt Munkasci and Nancy Jeffries collection of antique Turkmen weavings. Kurt Munkasci and his collection are profiled in detail in HALI 183, out in April.
