'Art & Textiles: Fabric as Material and Concept in Modern Art from Klimt to the Present' will take place at the Kunstmuseum, Wolfsburg, Germany, on view till 2 March 2014.
A large-scale, interdisciplinary exhibition that encompasses diverse cultures throughout history featuring names such as Gustav Klimt, Vincent van Gogh and Henri Matisse alongside 60 anonymous artists whose names have not been preserved. Videos and paintings are brought together with ethnographic artefacts in a detailed exploration of the vast topic of the significance of textiles to our civilisation. As textile scholar Beverly Gordon notes; “To be human is to be involved with cloth.”
