Leclere Auctions, Marseilles, to hold carpet and textile sale(s)

Leclere Auctions in Marseilles has created a department specialising in carpets and textiles. Located in the south of France, the company is renowned for its expertise and experience in selling exclusive lots worldwide. In the coming months it will be offering its first sales in this new field, led by a guiding principle to favour quality over quantity. The new department can value weavings from every continent, from the Middle Ages to 1950.

Leclere says, ‘This is first and foremost our passion, and one we are happy to share whether by advising you for the sale of your items, or by guiding you through an acquisition. First sale Thursday March 27at 14:30. One of the highlights is said to be this Shield carpet, which falls into Group 2 as defined in 1978 by Robert Pinner and Michael Franses in the first issue of HALI in their article Caucasian Shield Carpets.
