The Capri Motel in San Francisco (2015 Greenwich Street), which over the years has been the site of much informal rug dealing and many get-togethers during the Caskey Lees Tribal Art Fair in February at the Fort Mason Centre, will enjoy a new lease of life in respect to rug dealing from 15-26 October 2009 as it becomes the focus for The Antique Rug and Textile Show. Over 35 dealers from around the world will be attending the event offering their merchandise for sale over the period from the comfort of their rooms in the motel, which will be totally given over to the event. The list of exhibitors contains many of the most active dealers in the antique collectable market and demonstrates that one should expect to encounter some well-sourced esoteric material ranging from Baluch and Turkmen collectables through to European embroideries, early Turkish weavings as well as pile bags from Iran and interesting Azerbaijan weavings, the only thing that one might not expect to see here is decorative carpets. Indeed the role call of exhibitors reads like a list of the dealers that one expect to see at an ACOR dealer’s row, and that is perhaps the type of congenial atmosphere that one should expect to encounter. For a full list of exhibitors with contact details visit http://arts.jozan.net/exhibitors.asp
